Art in the Village is an event hosted by the Guthrie County Arts Council every June, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic they have delayed and reworked the event to happen this Saturday.

This year’s event is called Art in the Village Square, as it will be held in the downtown Panora square instead of its traditional location of the Guthrie County Historical Village. The event will last from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., with several artist and craft vendors, free activities for children, and live music from different performing acts throughout the day. Art Council volunteer Debbie Menning hopes this adapted event will benefit local businesses, “Due to COVID it wasn’t going to work to have it at the historical village so we’ve been partnering with the City of Panora to host it on the town square and we’re very excited to be there. We all know with COVID that the restaurants and our small businesses have struggled and so this is an opportunity for the Arts Council to put something right there in the middle of downtown Panora and hopefully give those people a boost on that Saturday as well.”

Menning adds the organization has been following the recommendations from local health officials in hosting this event amid the pandemic, and they will have face masks and hand sanitizer available. She encourages those who feel safe to attend the event and to social distance from others. The Arts Council also welcomes any new volunteers who are interested in helping with the event, and you can find more information by visiting here.
