Looking for something fun to do for the Halloween holiday? Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community is sponsoring a scarecrow contest.
The second annual event is called, “The Scarecrow Invasion: Time Warp Edition.” The contest is hosted by the Tower View Team and Chair Deb McGinn explains the theme.
“Well, the Time Warp Edition means that you can just create a scarecrow from any time period (including) any decade, any era, any movement within those eras or decades. Maybe you want to make a scarecrow celebrating Women’s Suffrage, the 90s, the 50s, it’s completely up to you.”
McGinn says the contest is open to anyone and any business. Participants are asked to contact the Thomas Jefferson Education and Welcome Center, or email Executive Director Reegan Hanigan at director@jeffersonmatters.org. McGinn notes they will respond to your message and give a location of where the scarecrow will be on display. The contest runs from October 1st-31st, and a vote for the best scarecrow will take place online on their Facebook page. The winner will receive a trophy and there’s no entry fee.
