Recently released guidance from Dallas County Public Health gave the Perry City Council some comfort as they approved Halloween festivities.

The decision to allow a beggars night was discussed during Monday’s Perry City Council meeting. Before opening discussion on the topic, City Administrator Sven Peterson informed the Council that Dallas County Public Health recently released COVID-19 data broken down by zip codes for the first time. The new dashboard shows how many active cases there are in each zip code and information on what symptoms to look out for, mitigation and sanitation recommendations, and various resources ranging from childcare availability to financial assistance for small businesses. As of Friday, of the County’s 707 active COVID-19 cases, 16 are in the Perry zip code.

Peterson adds that if those numbers start to increase between now and the end of October, he could bring this back to Council. Beggars Night is set for Friday, October 30th, from 6-8 p.m. throughout the neighborhoods of Perry.
