In what was a hyper-competitive, up and down, fast paced football game on Friday night in Grimes, the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs faced their stiffest competition, yet.  At 1-4 on the season, the Norwalk Warriors did their best to cast an upset bid on the the state’s top ranked team in Class 3A, but the Mustangs survived.

Junior, Huston Halverson, typically DC-G’s backup QB, got the start under center on Friday night.  Halverson was 9/17 passing, with 117 passing yards, and 2 touchdown passes.  Halverson’s poise in the backfield, really opened up the opportunities for the Mustang’s leading rusher, Zach Brand, who was huge in the DC-G win.  Brand had 42 carries for 327 yards, and 3 touchdowns.

Luke Busby, Austin Fiori, and Brody Burgher all had big night’s on the defensive side for DC-G, combining for 22 tackles.  Busby, along with fellow Senior, Blake Willey also had interceptions for the Mustangs in the win over Norwalk.

A cross-county rivalry is on the horizon for next Friday, as the ADM Tigers make the trip to Grimes.  Kickoff next Friday is scheduled for 7:00pm.
