The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During open forum, it was mentioned that the Central Iowa Community Services Mental Health Region wanted to utilize funds through the federal Coronavirus Aide, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to make office improvements for Greene County Disabilities Coordinator Ellen Ritter. The Board wanted to contact the Iowa Department of Human Services because they rent space for Ritter’s office in the Greene County Courthouse.
County Engineer Wade Weiss then gave an update. He said gravel work on some of the county roads is complete, following four straight days of rainfall washing out some of the county gravel roads. He also mentioned that two secondary roads employees that tested positive for COVID-19 are back to work Monday, another employee who was quarantined due to possible exposure is back to work Tuesday, and a fourth employee is currently quarantined for ten days due to testing positive for the virus.
The Board then discussed the resolution for a 28E agreement to provide temporary law enforcement coverage for the City of Jefferson. The agreement includes the Greene County Sheriff’s Office covering up to 15, 12-hour shifts at $1,000 per shift. There would also be $1,750 per month fee for administrative support staff that is the equivalent of one-half time employee from the sheriff’s office. The law enforcement coverage would not include animal-related calls, except for animal bites. The agreement is expected to go into effect on October 1st. The Supervisors unanimously approved the agreement and it must now be approved by the Jefferson City Council.
