The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School Board approved the name for the new elementary school opening in Adel next fall.

The Board approved the name Meadow View Elementary School. Two members of the committee established to lead the building naming process Jodi Banse and Travis Wilkins presented their approach and recommended the name to the School Board during their meeting Monday.

The Board also reviewed how the first few weeks of the school year had gone. As of Monday, 97.4% of students are not isolated or quarantined because of COVID-19. Superintendent Greg Dufoe tells Raccoon Valley Radio he’s thrilled with where the District is at, “Back when we settled on a Return to Learn plan to be fully onsite, with the remote option for parents who wanted to choose that, we thought about how we would feel going into the fourth week and we couldn’t have expected or asked for it to go any better. We are very excited to be back. This is really a defining moment in our District for sure. I can’t be more proud of the people, parents, our students, with our start of the school year and it gives us great hope that this year is going to be a great one.”

The Board also approved their Iowa Association of School Boards-legislative priorities, a $31,000 change order for the construction of Meadow View Elementary, and the activities department coaches and sponsors handbook.
