The West Central Valley School Board discussed how homecoming activities will be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic at their special meeting Wednesday night.
Co-Superintendent/High School Principal Rusty Shockley told the Board that after discussions with county health officials and other conference schools he recommends limiting or changing some of their activities leading up to the homecoming game on September 25th. This includes not holding a coronation/pep rally event on the Sunday night as previously done to having the coronation during halftime of the game, and hosting some sort of outdoor class competition as opposed to those held in the gymnasium in the past. Shockley also said for the purpose of keeping kids in the school buildings and not having any COVID-19 outbreaks that they should not hold a parade or dance, to which the Board members agreed. No action was required from the Board, and they mentioned possibly holding a supplemental dance and other events later in the year. The Board also approved a van purchase bid and an athletic training services agreement from Absolute Performance Therapy.
