A Jefferson-based business recently received national recognition.
Jefferson Telecom earned the Smart Rural Community designation by the NTCA – the Rural Broadband Association. The SRC is a national network program that promotes rural broadband and its role in supporting innovative economic development, effective education, efficient energy distribution and use, and state-of-the-art health care. To qualify for the designation, Jefferson Telecom was required to offer 25/3 megabits per second of broadband to at least 50-percent of its service area, at least 50-percent of broadband subscription rates and is committed to program principles of collaboration and innovation.
