Greene County schedules one home cross-country meet per season at Spring Lake State Park northwest of Grand Junction. The meet was flooded out in 2018 and ’19. Unfortunately, rainfall this week prompted school officials to once again cancel the meet for the third straight year. It will not be made up.

Activities Director Todd Gordon made the announcement Wednesday morning as more rain fell marking nearly 24 hours of constant precipitation. The irony is the county remains in a severe drought, yet the meet is rained out.

This is the second meet the Rams have had cancelled. The Aug. 24 Woodward-Granger meet was not held due to storm damage on the Jester Park Golf Course where the event was to have been held. The Greene County teams will try again next Thursday, Sept. 17 at the Panorama (Panora) Coed Invitational.
