We are coming up to the time of the year where non-profit organizations are wanting to host fundraisers and other activities to celebrate their accomplishments throughout the year.

Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf says there are several precautions to consider to prevent community spread of COVID-19. She encourages organizations to educate those attending their function to have clearly marked signage to educate them on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and identify markings to allow for social distancing. She describes what to do if the event has a meal included.

“Don’t be doing homemade foods to bring in. You need to also avoid any self-serve food or drink options such as buffets, salad bars, (or) having your condiments out (and) drink stations. It’s best to go with like a ‘grab-and-go’ meal option if possible.”

Wolf recommends having a cashless payment option, which would reduce the risk of spreading the virus instead of exchanging cash that touches lots of different hands. She also suggests hosting an outdoor event, as it is a safer option than indoor. Contact Wolf at Public Health for more information and guidance.
