The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference volleyball season starts tomorrow night in Monroe for Greene County vs. PCM. The Rams stay on the road Thursday in Story City vs. Roland-Story, then go to Hubbard on Saturday to play in the South Hardin Tournament at the middle school in Hubbard.

Greene County head coach Chris Heisterkamp talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about playing in this COVID-19 affected season. “First of all, I’m just so thankful that we’re able to be playing. It’s amazing that we’ve made it this far, and super excited to be headed into conference play for sure. I just see so many good things happening on the court with our girls and am so excited to see them take it into conference play now.”

The Rams are 2-1 on the season with victories over Collins-Maxwell and Glidden-Ralston, and the loss to Ft. Dodge St. Edmond. Greene County hasn’t played since Aug. 27. They originally were to have hosted their first-ever varsity tournament on Sept. 5, but the gym inside the new high school hasn’t been completed. School officials are hopeful the tourney can be played on Oct. 3.
