ADM Tiger Cross Country ran their first race of the season on Saturday over in Urbandale against four other teams and got a pair of extremely good individual efforts on both the boys and girls side to start the season.

On the girls side, sophomore Geneva Timmerman was able to run a great race finishing in first place with a time of 19 minutes and 47 seconds, winning the race by 14 seconds and the only girl of the 47 person race to crack the under 20 minute mark.

Sophomore Callie Moyer and senior Hannah Welch got 23rd and 26th in the race, with times of 22 minutes and 32 seconds and 22 minutes 43 seconds.

On the boys side, Nate Mueller started off his season with a second place finish, running a time of 16 minutes and 4 seconds, and falling to the first place finisher by eleven seconds. The Tigers also had a good run from junior Cooper Greenslade, who got fifteenth with a time of 18 minutes.

The teams that these runners faced included Des Moines Roosevelt, Dowling Catholic, Urbandale, and Indianola, so the competition was fierce for these Tiger runners for their first meet of the season.

ADM boys cross country coach Josh Chapman will be joining the Dallas County PM sports page tonight to talk about the first race of the season, and runners that really stood out.

The two teams will be competing again tomorrow at the Lakeview Country Club in Winterset against a lot of teams, and hope to get some great performances once again with the season under way.
