A Jefferson man was injured in a fatal vehicle crash in Carroll County Friday.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 20-year-old Jacob Allen Hubbs was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado truck and heading north on Robin Avenue at 12:50pm. Hubbs failed to stop at a posted stop sign at the intersection with 130th Street and struck a 2007 Toyota Corolla that was driven by 76-year-old Kenneth Lee Johnston of Lanesboro. Hubbs’ vehicle came to a rest within the intersection facing the south ditch and Johnston’s vehicle ended up in the north ditch.
Johnston was pronounced dead at the scene, while Hubbs and his passenger, 43-year-old Brian Glenn Hubbs of Carroll suffered injuries and were taken to St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital in Carroll. The State Patrol crash report indicates everyone was wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Carroll Fire Department and Carroll County EMS assisted at the scene. The investigation is ongoing by the State Patrol.
