Greene County High School football will have its home opener tonight against South Central Calhoun.

Greene County Activities Director Todd Gordon says due to COVID-19 concerns, several precautions have been implemented for tonight’s game. Football players, cheerleaders, and band members will each be given six wristbands for family and friends to use in the main bleacher area at Linduska Field. There are another 60 seats for high school students, with preference given to seniors, then juniors, sophomores and finally freshmen. Finally, all other tickets will be available to the general public via an online ticketing system, and no on-site tickets will be sold.

A total of 810 spectators will be allowed to properly practice social distancing. The visiting team will be allowed to have 160 spectators.

Gordon asks that spectators wear a mask when they enter the stadium and when they are in common areas like the concession stand and restrooms.

“Once they get to their space where they’re sitting and they’re sitting with their family, or standing, or wherever they purchased a ticket from, I would say feel free to take it off if they want. We will have those available for no charge for people if they don’t have one. But we are asking them to please do that and help us slow the spread by wearing a mask in those common areas.”

Gordon adds, any kindergarten through 8th grade students must enter the stadium with an adult and sit with that adult during the game. They will not be allowed to wander around the facility. If you can’t make it to the game, Raccoon Valley Radio will provide live play-by-play coverage starting at 6pm with kickoff at 7pm on 98.9FM KGRA.
