AC/GC hits the road later tonight to try and avoid an 0-2 start on the young season.

Last week the Charger’s comeback effort against Earlham came up just a bit short in a 31-28 loss. They’ll have another tough test tonight. In the second week of the abbreviated season, the Chargers will hit the road again to face Central Decatur. The Cardinals qualified for the Class A state football playoffs and finished their season 5-5. While these two teams didn’t play last year, they did have one common opponent in Nodaway Valley. The Chargers beat the Wolverines 54-0 while Nodaway Valley earned one of their three wins in a 32-24 slugfest against Central Decatur. The Cardinals do lose a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Central Decatur will be without their leading passer, rusher, and tackler from 2019.

In Cardinal’s Class 1A debut last week they rolled to a 42-6 win against Wayne. They were led by a balanced attack as Matthew Boothe threw for 110 yards on five completions and one touchdown. Devin Adams was their leading rusher who earned 81 yards on the ground and one score.
