A new adult education class is starting up soon at the Greene County Career Academy in Jefferson.

Iowa Central Community College and the Greene County School District are conducting an Integrated Manufacturing Advancement Program. The I-MAP course will teach adults basic manufacturing skills such as blueprint reading, basic math, precision tools, shop safety, civics education, and lean manufacturing. Teresa Green with the Greene County School District says the purpose of the course is to give adults the basic understanding of manufacturing and make them employable. She adds, in Greene County there is a shortage of manufacturing employees.

The program will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-10pm from September 14th through November 25th at the career academy located west of American Athletic Incorporated/Spaulding and south Highway 30.
