Finishing touches are being put on the 4-H and FFA Education Center as the Guthrie County Fair gets ready to open tomorrow.
Fair Board President Tyler Carney says the final electrical and paving work is being completed on the new facility which is located west of the Lions Club and American Legion building. The Board pledged $100,000 to the building, as the Guthrie County 4-H members raised $50,000 to make the project a reality. Carney thanks all the community members and businesses who supported this project, “The 4-H kids, they stepped up to the plate but they also needed a new building. The old one was right down in the flood plain along the river and this one has moved quite a bit aways from the river and I think they’ll enjoy it and use it and get a lot of good out of it for a lot of years to come.”
The public can check out the new building and view static exhibits from 4:30-7 p.m. each day of the fair. Carney also encourages the public to visit the new Benner antique tractor display building, which will play host to several demonstrations throughout the weekend. Raccoon Valley Radio will be broadcasting live with the Big Red Radio tomorrow through Monday at the fair in Guthrie Center.
