Governor Kim Reynolds speaking at the Greene County Republican Party fundraiser from last week

Last week was the Republican National Convention, and two Iowans took center stage during the four-day event.

Governor Kim Reynolds and U.S. Senator Joni Ernst delivered speeches virtually during the convention. Reynolds says it was an honor to speak and share Iowa’s experiences at a national level.

“It was an opportunity for me to highlight the incredible opportunities that exist in Iowa and to highlight our people. How resilient, and determined, and strong that they are especially in the face of disaster and adversity (with) people having people, and it’s who we are.”

Reynolds talks about her relationship with President Donald Trump that she’s cultivated during his administration.

“I really do appreciate him and I’ve experienced this with the entire administration. I’ve been included in a lot of meetings, he’s very accessible, he’s very knowledgeable about the issues. It’s easy to highlight what some of the concerns are in the state of Iowa, and he’s been very responsive every time I’ve had an opportunity to sit down with him.”

Reynolds appreciates Trump’s responsiveness to not only the 2019 floods but also the recent derecho storm disaster declaration that he approved for Iowa.
