A Guthrie Center Elementary staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the Guthrie Center School District, the positive case was confirmed Monday and as a result of contact tracing one student will be quarantined in addition to the staff member. This is the second time in the district’s first two weeks of school that they’ve had a positive case, as last week a high schooler was confirmed to have the virus, and 10 other students on the varsity volleyball team were quarantined due to sitting within six feet of each other for longer than 15 minutes while watching a junior varsity scrimmage event. The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center Districts are continuing to follow the guidance of their respective county public health departments to provide the safest learning environment for their students and staff, including using flowcharts to determine quarantine procedures, which you can find here.
