The Guthrie Center City Council approved proceeding with putting a recently acquired property up for sale at their recent meeting.
The Council discussed what to do with the property at 701 North 5th Street with City Nuisance Officer Wes Clark. They decided they will put a “for sale” sign on the property instructing the public to call City Hall for details. The City will accept bids for the property until 4 p.m. Monday, September 28th. After a bid is accepted the buyer will be required to sign a purchase agreement with the contingency that the existing property will be torn down with debris hauled away and the lot graded before clear title is given. The buyer will also be given a deadline as to when those improvements must be completed. The Council also approved for Public Works Director Bob Secoy to go forward with Hydro-Klean on a manhole rehab project, as Hydro-Klean was the only company to submit a bid. The project consists of 10 manholes mostly on State Street, and is well within Secoy’s budgeted amount of $110,000 for the work. Secoy did not have a determined start date from the business.
