With a change of date and location the Guthrie County Arts Council is planning to host an arts festival event this fall, with help sought from local artists and volunteers.
Instead of the Art in the Village event that would usually happen in June at the Guthrie County Historical Village, the Council will be hosting Art in the Village Square on Saturday, October 3rd from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in the downtown Panora square, or at Veteran’s Auditorium in case of rain. Artist booths are $35 for Arts Council members and $65 for non-Council members. Council member Ruth Owen says they are looking for volunteers to help that day, “What we really need is membership and membership participation. We really would like to have people get involved and we would really like to do some more outreach to other communities in the county. We don’t really want to be just a Guthrie Center thing.”
The public can volunteer to help set up booth tents, assist artists and musicians, take down tents and clean up, and for other needs. Those interested in either volunteering for the event or hosting a booth can reach the Arts Council at 641-747-2218 or guthriecountyartscouncil@gmail.com.
