Greene County starts the high school cross-country season this Thursday, Sept. 3 at the West Central Valley co-ed meet in Redfield. Head coach Jeff Lamoureux says the Rams are ready to run after getting the first meet on the original scheduled at Jester Park on Aug. 24 cancelled because of damage from the Aug. 10 storm.
Assistant coach Lindsey Duncan recently gave birth and has not been coaching, but the high school Ram have been getting help from the middle school coach. “Middle school coach Deb Marquardt has been helping us. We’ve been having the high school and middle school practice at the same time. We appreciate the help from Coach Marquardt and I think it’s been good that the middle school kids see what practices are like on the high school level. Middle school races are two miles and high school races are 3.1 miles, the five K, so some things are different, but some things are the same, so it’s worked out.”
