Though the Guthrie County Cattlemen’s Association has had to cancel most grilling events this summer because of the pandemic, they are not letting their beef go to waste with an event this Saturday.
The Cattlemen will be handing out 500 two-pound packages of frozen hamburger for free in the KH Butler parking lot across the street from Hometown Foods in Guthrie Center starting at 9 a.m. Cattlemen President Terry Betts says the group thought it would be a good opportunity with the Guthrie County Fair happening this weekend to offer the free beef to the public, and he mentions they’re happy to place the package in the person’s vehicle trunk if they prefer a contact-free exchange. One package will be given per vehicle or household, and the hamburger is packaged by Arcadia Meats with assistance from Hometown Foods.
