A Perry Elementary kindergarten class has flipped the switch to online learning to continue class following a 14-day quarantine period.
The Perry School District released an update Tuesday saying they had a positive COVID-19 case which is causing a kindergarten class, including a teacher, to quarantine for 14 days. Principal Ned Menke says they handed out equipment to those students Wednesday morning to quickly make the transition to remote learning.
Menke adds as soon as he got word of the positive case, action was taken immediately, “Like any case that may turn up in the year, we’re going to be acting rapidly on that. So my job then was to contact, of course, our school nurse, our superintendent, we got a collaboration with Dallas County Public Health as far as what’s going to happen next with that classroom. Ultimately, after that discussion, it was decided that the best course of action would be to quarantine that section of students. Within 16-18 hours we had computers in the hands of students at home.”
