From the Alliance to the “Genealogy Know Your Family History” political party, there are several names listed for the presidential race on the Iowa general election ballot, including a well-known rapper/producer.

Former President Trump supporter Kanye West has qualified for the presidential ballot in Iowa and several other states after announcing his campaign on July 4th. Guthrie County Democrats Co-Vice Chair Shanda Carstens comments on the likelihood that West’s campaign is part of an effort to draw Black voters away from Democratic candidate Joe Biden, “Well, I understand the strategy behind this is to take votes from Biden but I don’t think it will be successful in Iowa, especially in Guthrie County. You know we have serious work to do to get Biden and all of our Democratic ticket into office and we’re not going to be distracted by these tactics.”

Five states so far have ruled that West won’t appear on their ballots: Ohio, Illinois, Montana, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
