Before the Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center Chargers hosted the Madrid Tigers for scrimmage volleyball and football games last Friday, some of the student athletes traveled to Madrid to help clean up damage from the derecho storm.

The scrimmage event was originally set to be held in Madrid, the hometown of ACGC Head Football Coach and Activities Director Cody Matthewson. He shares how him and some of his players lent a helping hand to Madrid residents that experienced storm damage, “We took some boys, about six boys, to Madrid last Tuesday and helped out some of my family and obviously my father who is a coach for us. It was like stepping into a whole different world, it was unbelievable how much damage they got. So we were really fortunate with the little amount of storm that we got.”

The first official football game for ACGC takes place this Friday at Earlham. You can listen to the Chargers on the KKRF-2 livestream online at raccoonvalleyradio.com and on the free KKRF-2 mobile app.
