The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of temporary and permanent easements for a bridge and weir project at their recent meeting.
County Engineer Josh Sebern says this project is to replace a bridge on Grant Avenue and install two Hungry Canyons weirs, or low head dams, with one at that bridge and one about a quarter of a mile upstream. The Supervisors also approved the final construction plans for the project, which Sebern expects to take place during the fall of next year. The project is estimated at $545,000 which includes $125,000 for the bridge. Cost for the weirs will be $235,000. Sebern says the bridge will be funded from tax increment financing. For the weirs, 80% will be funded by the Hungry Canyons Alliance with rural property tax and gas tax funds paying for the remainder.
