Following a week that impacted just about everything in Perry, a community favorite was able to return to normal this week.

Due to damage and power loss from last week’s derecho storm, the Perry Farmers Market had to adjust and hold a “mini-market.” Vendors were set up in Josh Davis Plaza instead of 2nd Street between Willis Avenue and Warford, where they usually set up. The weekly staple was able to return to normal Thursday evening. Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio she considers both events a success. Pasutti adds she was impressed with the turnout with the unique circumstances last week, and the market returned to full-strength last night. The Perry Public Library was also in attendance as they handed out free watermelon as part of their health initiative to provide fresh produce to residents.

You can hear more about Thursday’s farmer market on Friday’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program.
