This is the last week for the Iowa State Livestock Shows at the fairgrounds in Des Moines and one Greene County 4-H’er is preparing for her final livestock show.
Greene County High School 2020 graduate Tieryn Tucker is with the Hardin Happy Hustlers 4-H Club and has been involved since 4th grade. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she will be showing a steer this Saturday at the State Livestock Show. During last month’s Greene County Fair, Tucker earned Grand Champion Market Beef and Champion Maine-Anjou Market Steer. She talks about why she is continuing to show beef at the state fairgrounds.
“Honestly I just do it because (for) my dad and I, it’s kind of our bonding thing. So I’m just looking forward to another weekend down there with him and we get to meet all of our old friends that we haven’t seen in a couple of months since all of the shows had been cancelled. I just like to go down and see everybody and hang out with my dad.”
This is Tucker’s final show as a 4-H’er. She plans to continue to show in FFA.
