A Waterloo man was sentenced to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to several charges stemming from an April incident in De Soto.

According to court documents, 32-year-old Norman Frank Gross was arrested April 14th at a Kum and Go gas station in De Soto. Gross met up with a friend at a Walmart in West Des Moines, where the victim said Gross forced him into the passenger seat of his vehicle, where he was assaulted, and then Gross stole money to buy drugs. A field sobriety test also indicated Gross was impared at the time of the arrest. Gross was sentenced to five years in prison for the Class D Felony charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, two years in prison for each of the aggravated misdemeanor charges for theft and operating a motor vehicle without consent one year in the Dallas County Jail for his first offense of an OWI.
