Less than a hundred Alliant Energy customers are reportedly still without power in Guthrie County since last week’s derecho.
Governor Kim Reynolds added Guthrie County to her disaster proclamation last week, which activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program for qualifying residents, along with the Disaster Case Management Program. Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says we were lucky not to receive as much destruction from the severe thunderstorm as nearby counties, and he applauds those who have helped each other and their communities in getting them cleaned up, “I still see a lot of trees piled around and tree limbs and people are still working and it’ll probably take all summer to get everything cleaned up. Some buildings, it’ll take longer than that because if they had a tree fall on them it does a lot of destruction on the building.”
Applicants have 45 days from August 14th to submit a claim to the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program. Disaster Case Management is a program that addresses serious needs to overcome a disaster-related hardship, injury or adverse condition.
