Three school districts in Guthrie County are less than a week away from the first day of school, with events scheduled later this week to welcome incoming students.
The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center, Panorama, and West Central Valley districts are holding back-to-school nights this Thursday for students who are attending classes in person this fall, and these events may look different than usual. All of the districts are asking that only one parent come to the open houses with the attending student. Guthrie Center Elementary’s open house begins at 4:30 p.m. and they’ve assigned students to come during one of a series of shifts alphabetically. Seventh graders will be having their junior high orientation at 7 p.m. Thursday in the junior high gymnasium.
The Panorama middle and high schools will have an open house from noon-8 p.m., and students are encouraged to bring their school supplies to place in their locker. Families are asked to park in the east parking lot and enter the E5 doors. A free face shield and cloth face mask will be provided to each student if desired. For West Central Valley, the Dexter and Stuart elementary buildings will also hold a back to school night with students assigned to come during a particular time slot according to last name from 4-7 p.m. Thursday night. The first day of school for these districts is August 24th, and they are all doing the on-site learning model at this time.
