Guthrie County Extension and Outreach has released the 4-H and FFA livestock show schedule for the county fair which is less than three weeks away.
As the Extension staff and Fair Board are taking added precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19 at the fair, 4-H/Youth Coordinator Mollie Clark shares some of this year’s changes, “Unfortunately, we had to scrap a bunch of our stuff and that includes our livestock judging competition that happens. We’ve had to spread out all of our shows so that we don’t have any shows that are overlapping and that is for the safety of the exhibitors and the families that come to watch.”
There are livestock shows scheduled from Thursday September 3rd to Monday September 7th. They will also be live streaming all the shows on the Guthrie County Extension or 4-H Facebook pages for those who prefer not to attend the events in person. The show-and-go formatted exhibitions will not include a premium auction, the Art/Ag Hall will be closed this year, and there will be no carnival or parade. The public can check out the new 4-H and FFA Education Center from 4:30-7 p.m. throughout the fair to check out the new facility and members’ static projects.
