The Guthrie Center School Board approved their whole grade sharing and activity agreements with the Adair-Casey School District at their meeting Monday.
Changes to the agreements included that the Boards will meet jointly as needed instead of a minimum four times a year. They also approved the staff and student handbooks for the district, which include language about cheating and plagiarism, an updated electronic policy, and an open campus lunch policy for the high school seniors, which Principal Ethan Lensch proposed as it could help with social distancing for that part of the day. The handbooks also included that parents must pick up children for appointments, rather than the students walking home or to the appointment themselves. The Board then appointed Wes Policky as a delegate for the Iowa Association of School Boards convention which is to be held online. They also approved changes to the Title IX policy which handles filing sexual harassment complaints, and approved an agreement with U.S. Cellular to purchase 20 hotspots for students who do not have access to the internet at home. They also discussed but took no action on School Board goals for this year.
