Jefferson residents may burn storm brush on their property following last week’s storm as allowed by the city code.

Police Chief Mark Clouse says there are requirements to follow for open burns.

“(It) has to be burnt between the hours of 7am and 9pm and that is yard waste only. Don’t burn them on the street, don’t burn them on an alley, burn them on your property. Obviously this goes without saying we ask that you watch those as they’re burning.”

According to the ordinance, residents are not allowed to burn whole trees or any limbs greater than ten-inches in diameter. Residents are reminded they can take any size storm brush to the City’s yard waste site near Daubendiek Park.
