Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson have postponed its fifth anniversary celebration due to the recent storm.

General Manager Travis Dvorak tells Raccoon Valley Radio the outdoor concert with musical guest Arch Allies scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed to September 11th and the chili contest has been cancelled at this time.

“It’s not because we couldn’t operate it, we could (and) we’re very fortunate that we didn’t have that much damage. But the bigger issue is we know a lot of people in Jefferson, and Greene County, and the surrounding counties throughout the state, we had over 700-800 fans who wanted to come to the show and I know a lot of them won’t be able to because they’ve got to stay home and clean up.”

As for damages, Dvorak notes there was very minor damage done to the roof of the facility, but the attached and independently operated Cobblestone Inn and Suites wasn’t so lucky.

“The wind got a hold of the roof and ripped the rubber membrane right off. I know they’re up on the roof right now fixing it. I don’t have all of the details but last I talked to Cobblestone they’re telling me that they are going to be completely shut down until October. They had that much water damage from the rain.”

Dvorak says it’s unfortunate to have to postpone their anniversary celebration to next month. Ticket holders for the concert and fireworks show will be honored for the rescheduled event.
