Several Guthrie County residents are still without power and a boil advisory remains in effect for the City of Yale since Monday’s derecho.
Power outages in the county reported by Alliant Energy include 110 Bagley customers, 69 customers in Panora, 10 in Guthrie Center, 87 in Jamaica, and 35 in Casey. Guthrie County Rural Electric Cooperative has restored power to all their customers and have since sent four of their linemen to assist Consumers Energy with outages in the Marshalltown area.
Several communities have services for those needing to dispose of tree limbs and brush. The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center Football Club is offering cleanup help for a donation to their club, Panora’s brush dump is open this week for brush no larger than 12 inches in diameter, and Jamaica residents can drop off tree brush at the city property near the race track that is marked by red flags. The City asks that tree brush be no longer than six feet. Stuart’s tree disposal area at the south pond will be open and manned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to drop off tree limbs. Residents who have received property damage from the storm can contact Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Agency at 641-332-3030. More information can be found by visiting here.
