hot-august-night-2019

Tomorrow night outdoor entertainment will be held in Jefferson with the Hot August Night event.

The annual event will take place from 4:30-7:30pm around the downtown square. Co-organizer Chuck Wenthold says there are COVID-19 precautions that they will follow.

“The basic thing is keep your social distancing between groups. If you feel comfortable you can wear a mask, it’s not required but the main thing is the social distancing. We’ll move the cars and the vehicle a part just a little bit more to give everybody a little bit more room to walk around and be able to keep distances.”

Wenthold notes there is no pre-registration, t-shirts or awards that will be given, due to COVID-19 impacting businesses’ financials. Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community will be serving and selling a meal, the Jefferson Does will selling pie and ice cream, Complete Insurance will provide free bottled water and local restaurants and retailers will be open.

Wenthold says the streets will be closed around the square starting at 1pm Thursday and the event is open to any car, truck, tractor or motorcycle. The rain date is the next day on Friday.  Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will also be broadcasting live from 4-6pm.
