The Dallas County Board of Supervisors heard an update regarding the damage caused by Monday’s severe weather.

Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator AJ Seely informed the Supervisors on the various damage caused by Monday’s thunderstorms that had wind gusts of 70 miles per hour.

Seely adds the communities that saw the most damage include Bouton, Minburn, and Woodward, “A lot of the work I’m doing right now consists of, still keeping the county-wide picture, buta lot of the focus is on those communities since they have the most compounding issues. I think the biggest priority right now is, obviously, power restoration. Some of the compounding issues with that are we have some vulnerable populations that are electricity-dependent, like those with oxygen concentrators, that kind of thing. [Monday] night was a pretty late night as far as identifying those individuals and setting them up with the Red Cross so that they’re taken care of.”

During open forum, Dallas County Sheriff Chad Leonard held a brief promotion ceremony for three members of his staff. The Supervisors then approved pay applications for the courthouse courtroom renovation project, and the former water treatment plant demolition project.
