A newly finished home in Jefferson was the first of its kind built by a newly established program and is now ready to be unveiled to the public.

Region XII Council of Governments Executive Director Rick Hunsaker says they will be giving a virtual tour of the one-story home at 606 North Cedar Street. The home was the first built by Iowa Prison Industries through Homes for Iowa. The virtual tour will begin at noon tomorrow, which includes a 360-degree tour with several speakers and experts to be on hand to answer questions from the public.

The 1,200-square-foot home includes a two-vehicle detached garage, a basement, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Following the tour, Hunsaker notes the video will be available on their website and on the Homes for Iowa website for a prospective buyer to view. He adds, due to COVID-19 they can no longer have an in-person celebration of the home, but rather a virtual tour allows people to safely social distance and prevent further spreading the virus.
