Greene County saw a slight increase in positive COVID-19 cases over the weekend.
According to the state dashboard as of Monday, Greene County had 42 cases, an increase of about four since Friday. However, that is the lowest number of cases compared to the contiguous counties, ranging from the lowest with Calhoun County over 80 cases and Dallas County with over 1,800.
Greene County Public Health Director Becky Wolf applauds the effort of the residents, along with all of the education that she and her staff have done for preventative measures against further spreading the virus.
“The concern is how long are we going to stay low. I feel like since we’ve been having more social gatherings in Greene County, as things have opened up, it’s just like you’re dabbling with fire. It’s some point it’s going to erupt and we’re going to see an upsurge.”
Wolf also appreciates the fact that some county businesses that have either started requiring or strongly recommending patrons and employees to wear a face mask.
