U.S. Congresswoman Cindy Axne
A bill cosponsored by the Congresswoman for Iowa’s Third District that invests in the country’s public lands was recently signed into law by President Donald Trump.
The Great American Outdoors Act permanently funds the Land and Water Conservation Fund, providing $900 million annually to repair and restore national and state parks, lakes, rivers, and trails. It also contains $9.5 billion over five years for much needed repairs at the nation’s parks and other public lands. U.S. Representative Cindy Axne says she’s proud to see the measure become law which will ensure that the natural wonders of Iowa and the nation are there for the next generation, “There’s going to be a lot of money that comes to Iowa to help out with places like the Effigy Mounds National Monument, Herbert Hoover National Historical Site and so this is going to help us continue to foster consumer spending, support Iowa jobs, and put money in people’s paychecks.”
Axne mentions the legislation is supported by the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, Clean Water Action, League of Conservation Voters, National Park Foundation, Outdoor Industry Association, National Wildlife Federation, Prairie Rivers of Iowa, and over 800 other national and local organizations.
