As the fall sports season officially begins today, the AC/GC football schedule will look a bit different than what was originally planed.
The IHSAA announced the regular season will be condensed to seven weeks, which will mostly impact non-district schedule. According to Head Coach Cody Mathewson, AC/GC has ironed out what their non-district schedule will look like. The Chargers will open play on the road against Earlham. The Cardinals had a great 2019 season going 9-2 and making it to the Class A quarter-finals. Week two will feature another matchup with a Class A state qualifier in Central Decatur.
The road doesn’t exactly ease up for AC/GC when they get to district play as they’ll face off with state runner-up Van Meter and Panorama who went 8-1 in the regular season last year. This will be the third season under Head Coach Cody Mathewson. The Chargers enjoyed their first winning season last year going 6-3 and were the first team left out of the playoffs.
