Students will be returning to school in just a couple weeks, and those at the Perry Community School District are working hard to make it as safe of an environment as possible.
The District has purchased 8,000 masks and enough face shields to supply all the teachers. There will also be enough disinfectant to ensure students and teachers have access in every room. Perry Schools will also be investing in a new technology called needle point ionization. Superintendent Clark Wicks explains how that will help, “It’s a process that disables bacteria, disables viruses, COVID-19 being one. It also disables molds and helps with dust and odar. So that’s being installed as we speak (Wednesday) which is going to be, I think, a huge asset for our schools and the mitigation of air.
Wicks adds they know can’t eliminate the risk of the virus in schools, but feels confident in their mitigation efforts. Schools will also be focusing on social distancing when possible, sanitizing shared spaces frequently, and strongly encouraging face coverings.
