The Perry School Board held a work session Wednesday to review their Return to Learn plan for the upcoming school year.
A big topic of discussion was the on-site schedule. Building administrators spoke to the challenges teachers will be facing as far as having enough time to provide quality education to those both on-site and learning remotely. High School Principal Dan Marbuger said he feels like the more time they can give teachers for the remote learning students, the better off they’ll be. Board President Kyle Baxter expressed concern that if they reduce the school day too far, it’ll reduce the quality of education the on-site students receive.
Several school day times were discussed throughout the meeting. By the conclusion, each board member agreed that they were supportive of a 1:45 p.m. dismissal of middle and high school students, and 2 p.m. for elementary students. The Board expects to take action on the subject during Monday’s regular meeting.
