Iowa’s annual sales tax holiday takes place this week, as Guthrie County residents are reminded to shop closer to home and support local businesses.

The sales tax holiday for select clothing and footwear takes place Friday and Saturday and all businesses that are open are required to participate. Items that qualify for no sales tax must have a selling price less than $100, and does not include watches, jewelry, umbrellas, sporting equipment, and any other special clothing or footwear designed primarily for athletic activity or protective use and not usually considered appropriate for everyday wear. More information on the sales tax holiday can be found here.
