The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center school districts have released more details on their return to learn plan this fall.

The districts announced this week that they plan to have on-site learning be the primary focus with remote learning provided for families who request it. Preschool students will attend school on Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday for at least the first quarter. Their benchmark for closing school buildings will be if recommended by the Governor, and state, Adair, and Guthrie county public health departments. Another benchmark will be if COVID-19 illnesses reach or exceed 5% in a building, the classroom, grade level, building, or district may close for a short period of time.

To encourage physical distancing desks and tables will be in rows with students facing the same direction, movement will be limited between classes with traffic staying to the left or right to maintain distance in hallways, and plexiglass barriers may be used by some staff when working with students closely for extended periods of time. Masks will not be required but recommended, and only students and staff will be allowed into the buildings, with lunch and classroom visitors prohibited, and meetings with staff conducted via Zoom, phone, or by appointment. The districts have also developed plans for hybrid and remote learning models, and details can be found here.
