
The West Central Activities Conference fields a lot of great teams in the Central and West Central Iowa. The West Central Valley Wildcats baseball and softball teams had a tough time during the season facing against some of the best teams in the area as both finished in the lower half of this difficult conference. Both were competitive against some great teams and now those great teams are finding some success at state.
The Bulldogs of Van Meter are representing the West Central Activities Conference as the one seed in the 2A boys state baseball tournament in Des Moines. They were able to get a victory over Treynor yesterday by the score of 1-0 in eight innings, in an exciting first round game that will move them to the state semifinals. The number one seeded Bulldogs will be coming for their second consecutive state championship
The Odgen Bulldogs are the number 3 team in Class 2A for girls softball, and will have a game for their first round against Mount Ayr later today. They had an undefeated conference record and 19-3 overall, and hope to put on a good show today.
West Central Valley will be hoping to get the opportunity to play in these tournaments in the future, but do have a blue print from two of the best in their conference in their respective sports to find winning ways.
