It’s the time of year where high school summer sports are finished for all, but the teams that are still alive in the softball and baseball State tournaments. Fall sports are working out with coaches, but official practice doesn’t begin until Aug. 10.

The Greene County High School sports teams find themselves in that transition phase. Seniors have graduated and are turning toward college or a career in the work force. Athletes with high school eligibility that play a Fall sport are getting prepared for those seasons. Greene County has cross-country, volleyball, and football on its own. Any girls wanting to swim do so at Boone under an athletic sharing agreement.

Jeff Lamoureux starts season number three heading both the girls and boys in cross-country. Chris Heisterkamp is in her third season at the helm of the volleyball program, and Caden Duncan starts season number two as head football coach.
