A Panorama and West Central Valley student have both tested positive for COVID-19 as of Monday evening.
West Central Valley Co-Superintendent/High School Principal Rusty Shockley tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the District was notified that a student has tested positive, and had been in a school building over the summer. Students who may have been in contact with the individual were notified of the situation and the District worked with Guthrie County Public Health to conduct “drive through” testing of the youth Monday afternoon.
Panorama Superintendent Shawn Holloway also confirmed that they were notified of a positive case of COVID-19 Sunday night. He says the student has been in the school’s facilities over the summer. Holloway points out that they sent a generalized letter out to all pre-kindergarten through 12th grade parents and guardians about the positive case. Through contact tracing, Holloway notes they have had further conversations with those families and their children who they believe the student came in contact with, and have recommended being tested and remain out of the facilities until next Monday.
Holloway is proud of the cleaning efforts that district personnel have taken so far and continue to do during the pandemic. He adds the district is continuing to be in contact with Guthrie County Public Health with the guidelines and recommendations as the pandemic continues.
